Owners approve Rooney restructuring, 31-0
Bob Dvorchak reported from suburban Dallas that, with one abstention (the Rooneys themselves? Oakland Al Davis?), the NFL owners gave their stamp of approval today to the Steelers sale that puts the required 30-percent combined stake in the hands of Dan Rooney and son Art Rooney II.
Three new partners also were unveiled, and Dvorchak tag-teamed with Gerry Dulac to introduce them to readers: Pilot truck-stop magnate James Haslam III, local businessman and Pitt trustee Robert A. Paul and family, and movie mogul Thomas (not to be confused with Jethro) Tull.
