Obama & towel & sharpie

There's been a lot of talk lately on Obama's connections to the Steelers -- we've mentioned them for months at Early Returns and Ed Bouchette has another great story about Dan Rooney and the prez in today's PG.

Here's the latest: Obama will do his first live interview from the White House during NBC's pre-game Sunday. Obama is a sports nut (as was Bush) but there's more to the story than that -- he needs public support to get his fiscal bailout approved and he'll get no bigger stage, post-inaugural, than the Super Bowl.

Here's the NBC announcement:

NEW YORK - January 26, 2009 - - NBC News' Matt Lauer will sit down with President Barack Obama for a live interview during NBC's Super Bowl Pre-Game.  The interview will be the President's first television interview from the White House since his inauguration.  The live interview will air Sunday, February 1 during NBC's Super Bowl Pre-Game.  More of the interview will air Monday, February 2 on NBC News' "Today."
