Oprik, Malone named to U.S. Olympic team - 01-01-10

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik (above) and Lightning forward Ryan Malone, a former Penguin, were named to the United States' Olympic roster.

Update: The roster:

The presence of Erik and Jack Johnson is a surprise. Neither has had a good season. We'd much rather have Thrashers defenseman Ron Hainsey than either of those two. Hainsey is a very reliable, two-way player.

-A note of interest, Jamie Langenbrunner  (1998) Chris Drury (2002 and 2006) and Brian Rafalski (2002 and 2006) are the only members of this roster with previous Olympic experience.
