Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

A preview of the Rangers.

When and where: 7 p.m., Madison Square Garden.

TV: Gopher Hunting Network Versus, TSN, RDS.

Record: 24-21-7, 55 points. The Rangers are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference and fourth place in the Atlantic Division.

Leading Scorer: Marian Gaborik (right), 61 points (29 goals, 32 assists).

Last Game: 6-0 road loss to the Canadiens, Saturday. Henrik Lundqvist made 11 saves in the loss.

Last Game against the Penguins: 5-2 home loss, Nov. 30. Mike Rupp scored his first career hat trick.

Rangers Player We Would Bet Money On Scoring: It's hard not to go with Marian Gaborik. He has five points (three goals, two assists) in three games against the Penguins this season.

Ex-Penguins on the Rangers: Erik Christensen, C; Rick Kehoe, professional scout; Michal Rozsival, D; Glen Sather general manager.

Ex-Rangers on the Penguins: Phil Bourque, broadcaster; Pascal Dupuis, RW; Bob Errey, broadcaster; Tony Granato, assistant coach; Kevin Stevens, professional scout.

Useless Rangers Trivia Vaguely Related to the Penguins: The only players to each record hat tricks in the same playoff game against the Rangers are Jaromir Jagr and Mario Lemieux. They each netted three goals for the Penguins in a 7-3 home win in Game 5 of the 1996 Eastern Conference semifinals.

Best Rangers YouTube Video We Could Find: For some reason, Sergei Zubov, then of the Rangers, thought it would be a good idea to try and fight former Penguins forward Kevin Stevens:

Notes:

-Marc-Andre Fleury (25-14-1, 2.60 GAA, .908 SV%) and Henrik Lundqvist (22-17-6, 2.32 GAA, .923 SV%) are your expected starters in net.

-For the Penguins, Marc-Andre Fleury (finger) is probable. Forward Maxime Talbot ("lower body") is day to day. Forward Chris Kunitz (abdominal) is on injured reserve.

-For the Rangers, forward Donald Brashear (hamstring) is day to day.

-Pascal Dupuis is tough.

-Is Matt Cooke a biter? Flyers forward Arron Asham thinks so.

-Our live blog begins at approximately 7 p.m.
