Penguins demote forwards Conner, Johnson - 01-29-10

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

The Penguins have demoted forwards Chris Conner and Nick Johnson (right) to Wlkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.

Conner has appeared in eight NHL games this season and has recorded three points (two goals, one assist).

Johnson has appeared in four NHL games this season and has recorded two points (one goal, one assist).

EN Says: A few readers have asked why the Penguins have shuffled Conner and Johnson back and forth like this. For the most part, it's done for salary cap reasons. The team is right up against the cap and every day an AHL call-up is on the NHL roster, that counts against the cap. Even if it's a little bit relatively speaking.
