Flames sign Bertuzzi

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

The Calgary Flames signed Ducks forward Todd Bertuzzi to a one-year deal.

EN Says: Assuming the money is right, this is a low-risk signing with the potential for some reward. If healthy and motivated, Bertuzzi has 20-goal potential and can play like one of the top five power forwards in the sport. But those are big ifs.

After losing Kristian Huselius and Owen Nolan through free agency and Alex Tanguay through a trade, the Flames had to figure out a way to replace some of that offense.

That said, you would think Flames head coach Mike Keenan would want to stay as far away as possible from his greatest failure. A general manager of the Panthers, Keenan pulled the trigger on a deal that sent goaltender Robert Luongo to the Canucks for Bertuzzi. The trade might've been one of the worst of all-time.
