Capitals sign Fedorov, Laich

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

The Washington Capitals agreed to a one-year deal worth $4 million with forward Sergei Fedorov. The team also avoided arbitration with forward Brooks Laich and signed him to a three-year deal.

EN Says: Fedorov seemed to rediscover himself with the run and gun Capitals last season after bouncing around with the Ducks and Blue Jackets the past few seasons. He doesn't quite have the wheels he used to have when he was a Red Wing, but he can still thrive in the type of environment the Capitals have created and find ways to contribute as a forward and even as a defenseman on the power play.

Laich's a guy who can do a little bit of everything and also managed to net 21 goals last season. He's a nice meat and potatoes type of player to have on a team that likes to run and gun.
