-Lightning owners Len Barrie and Oren Koules don't exactly do things conventionally.

-The Capitals were no fluke last season.

-For some strange reason, Panthers defenseman Bryan McCabe is feeling more comfortable in South Florida than Toronto.

-Former Penguins forward Jeff Daniels brings experience as head coach of the Hurricanes' AHL affiliate, the Albany River Rats.
