Double Trouble - 12-17-08

Through last night's games, Evgeni Malkin (49 points) and Sidney Crosby (44) still remained on top of the league's scoring leaders. Washington's Alex Ovechkin is the biggest threat to break up this dynamic duo at the top with his 42 points.
Should Malkin and Crosby hang on to their leads and finish the season in first and second place in the scoring race, it would be the first time teammates led the league in scoring since Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr (above) did it with the Penguins in the 1995-96 season.
While accomplishing this feat for the first time in 13 years would certainly be notable, it's hardly unique. In fact, it's happened 30 times including at least once every decade (except for this one) since the league's formation in 1917.
