Central Division

-An overtime goal by R.J. Umberger (right), who we hear is from Pittsburgh, gave the Blue Jackets a 2-1 win against the Sharks. Steve Mason made 47 saves in the win.

-Mason really saved the day for Columbus.

-Blue Jackets forwards Jason Chimera (groin) and Andrew Murray ("upper body") suffered injuries last night.

-Columbus activated forward Derek Dorsett from injured reserve and placed defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen on injured reserve due to a knee injury.

-Blues defenseman Jay McKee is dealing with a finger injury.

-Some ticket prices for the Winter Classic are dropping.

-Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood is dealing with a groin injury.

-Detroit will get another shot at San Jose tonight.

-Are the Blackhawks one of the NHL's elite teams?

-Could Predators defenseman Shea Weber be a future captain?

-Nashville is averaging 1,200 short of it's goal of 14,000 customers per game.

Northwest Division

-Todd Bertuzzi's overtime goal gave the Flames a 3-2 win at Minnesota. Daymond Langkow led Calgary with a goal and an assist. Miikka Kiprusoff made 25 saves in the win. The Wild's Marian Gaborik, playing in his first game since Oct. 14, and Andrew Brunette each had a goal and an assist.

-Despite Gaborik's return, Minnesota lost its six consecutive game.

-Daniel Sedin had two goals and an assist for the Canucks in a 4-2 win against the Oilers. Jannik Hansen had a goal and an assist while Curtis Sanford made 22 saves in the win for Vancouver.

-The No. 16 of former Canucks captain Trevor Linden was retired last night.

-Linden means quite a bit to Vancouver and British Columbia.

-Has Andre Raycroft replaced Peter Budaj as the Avalanche's top goaltender?

-Colorado is being mum on a potential comeback by Peter Forsberg.

Pacific Division

-Stars forward Loui Eriksson is no Jere Lehtinen. Just ask him.

-Dallas assigned forward Tom Wandell to Timra IK of the Swedish Elite League.

-Sharks goon Jody Shelley is good people.

-The Kings need a goaltender. In other news, the sky is blue.

-Ducks defenseman Scott Niedermayer has been mentoring rookie blue liner Brett Festerling.

Smythe Division
