Penguins forward Sidney Crosby (above, center) will skip the All-Star Lame Game Sunday in Montreal due to a bruised knee. Lightning forward Martin St. Louis will take his place on the roster.
EN Says: Good. While Gary Bettman and all the game's sponsors might be mad, Crosby's biggest obligation is to the team. If they hope to reach the playoffs, Crosby needs to be a healthy as possible. The All-Star Lame Game is a complete farce and there's no sense in Crosby risking further injury playing shinny with the league's other stars going at it half speed. Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro injured his hip during last year's all-star fesitivities and his abilities were hindered throughout the rest of the season. The Penguins, and every other team for that matter, doesn't need to repeat history.
This certainly makes all the hoopla surrounding the voting process seem even more trivial now huh?
