Capitals acquire Walker - 03-03-10

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

The Capitals acquired forward Scott Walker (right) from the Hurricanes in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick.

Walker, 36, has five points (three goals, two assists) in 33 games. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.

EN Says: We like the move for the Capitals. They could use a little bit of toughness and Walker does bring that. He's not an enforcer by any stretch of the imagination at 5-foot-10, 196 pounds but he's hardly shy about mixing it up with anyone. Having seen Matt Bradley fill the role as an defacto enforcer, he probably could use some help.

Most importantly, he'll bring a lot of energy to the Capitals. He can score a goal, start a fight or stick a big hit on an opponent.

We still think the Capitals need to take a look at their blue line, but we like this move for them.

For the Hurricanes, the fire sale continues.
