Coyotes acquire Schneider from Canucks - 03-03-10

The Coyotes continue to load up. They acquired defenseman Mathieu Schneider (right) from the Canucks.

Schneider,40, signed a one-year deal with the Canucks for $1.55 million but soon washed out. The Canucks tried to move him to another NHL club but eventually moved him to Manitoba of the AHL. In 17 NHL games this season, he had five points (two goals, three assists).

No word yet what the Canucks received.

EN Says: We like the deal for the Canucks better than we do for the Coyotes. Schneider turned into a drain on the Canucks. Just getting rid of him in any way was addition through subtraction.

We like that the Coyotes are trying to load up for the playoffs, but we're not exactly crazy about this move. Schneider can offer a lot in regards to experience and he still can move the puck, but he's an old 40. There are a lot of miles on his wheels.
