Capitals re-acquire Jurcina - 03-03-10

The Capitals re-acquired defenseman Milan Jurcina (above, dropping Sidney Crosby in the Olympics) from the Blue Jackets for a conditional sixth-round draft pick.

Jurcina, 26, was orginally traded by Washington to Columbus along with forward Chris Clark in exchange for forward Jason Chimera. In 44 games this season, Jurcina has seven points (one goal, six assists). He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.

EN Says: The Capitals had to make a move to address their blue line. This was not it. Bringing back a player who they gave up on already this season is a lateral move at best.

Jurcina is a big body at 6-foot-4, 236 pounds but he's very inconsistent in taking full advantage of his size. The Capitals made two good moved today by bringing in Scott Walker and Eric Belanger. This is a a bad move.

For Columbus, the fire sale continues.
