Coyotes acquire Stempniak - 03-03-10

The Coyotes strike again. They pick up forward Lee Stempniak from the Maple Leafs in exchange for conditional fourth and seventh round draft picks.

Stempniak, 27, has 30 points (14 goals, 16 assists) in 62 games. he is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.

EN Says: We like the move for the Maple Leafs. They dump a player who turned out to be a bust for them.

Stempniak has 20-goal potential, but he's very inconsistent. And he's not exactly a great defensive player.

We're not really sure why the Coyotes made the move. It seemed like they just made a move for the sake of making a move.
