Central Division

-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Cristobal Huet made 31 saves for the Blackhawks in a 4-0 shutout win at Florida. Who would think you'd see the day Penguins fans were happy for Ben Eager's success? Eager led Chicago on offense with two goals while Martin Havlat and James Wisniewski each had two assists. The Panthers are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 66 points, four more than the Penguins.

-Shootout goals by Jason Williams and Rick Nash (right, above) gave the Blue Jackets a 4-3 win at Toronto. Nash and teammate Kristian Huselius each had a goal and an assist in regulation. Columbus coach Ken Hitchcock recorded his 500th career win. Steve Mason made 32 saves for the Blue Jackets who have won six of their last seven games. Toronto's Nik Antropov found a way to score against someone other than the Penguins and had two goals.

-Keith Tkachuk's overtime goal gave the Blues a 2-1 win at Nashville. Andy  McDonald had a goal and an assist for St. Louis while Chris Mason made 28 saves in the win. Predators forward Steve Sullivan scored his third goal in two games.

Northwest Division

-Henrik Sedin had a goal and three assists for the Canucks in a 5-2 win at Ottawa. His twin Daniel Sedin added a goal and an assist while linemate Alex Burrows contributed a goal and two assists. Vancouver has won seven of its past eight games. Antoine Vermette led the Senators with two assists.

-Adrian Aucoin's overtime goal gave the Flames a 3-2 win at Minnesota. Miikka Kiprusoff made 27 saves in the win.

-Flames forward Rene Bourque suffered an ankle injury last night.

-Wild forward Andrew Brunette also suffered an undisclosed injury last night.

-Edmonton forward Zach Stortini is your fight leader in the NHL this season.

-The Oilers put forward Denis Grebeshkov on injured reserve.

-The Avalanche recalled defenseman Darcy Campbell from Lake Erie of the AHL.

-Colorado gets a crack at its former goaltender tonight, Washington's Jose Theodore.

-Avalanche captain Joe Sakic (right) has begun rehabbing his wonky back.

-Wild defenseman Nick Schultz is good people.

-The Jersey Foul Bill of Rights has apparently been well read in Minnesota.

Pacific Division

-Former Penguins prospect Daniel Carcillo scored in the eighth round of the shootout and gave the Coyotes a 4-3 win against the Thrashers. Fire Ray Shero. Shane Doan added a shootout goal for Phoenix. Bryan Little and Ilya Kovalchuk each had a goal and an assist for the Thrashers.

-Fabian Brunnstrom had a goal and an assist for the Stars in a 4-2 defeat of the Oilers. Teammate Mike Ribeiro added two assists for Dallas which has won 10 of its past 13 games.

-Marc-Edouard Vlasic had a goal and assist and led the Sharks to a 4-2 win against the Kings. Teammates Rob Blake and Joe Thornton each added two assists. San Jose forward Claude Lemieux recorded a assist. It was his first point since March 9, 2003.

-Check out this hit to the head by Kings defenseman Denis Gauthier to Sharks forward Patrick Marleau last night:

-The Ducks recalled defenseman Brian Salcido from Iowa of the AHL and demoted defenseman Brett Festerling.

-The Stars recalled forward Raymond Sawada from Manitoba of the AHL and demoted forward Chris Connor to Peoria of the AHL.

Smythe Division

-The NHL is returning to Europe next season. The Red Wings and Blues will begin the season in Sweden while the Blackhawks and Panthers will kick things off in Finland.

-Linesmen in the NHL have a tough but thankless job.
