Patrick Sharp's goal with just under two minutes left in the first overtime gave the Blackhawks a 4-3 home win in Game 3 of the Western Conference final. Detroit still controls the series, 2-1.

Chicago Goaltender Cristobal Huet relieved Nikolai Khabibulin at the start of the third period and stopped all six shots he saw to record the win.

The game was marred in the first period on a controversial hit by Detroit defenseman Niklas Kronwall that injured Chicago forward Martin Havlat. Kronwall received a five-minute interference penalty and a game misconduct. Havlat did not return to the game.
