The Penguins have a chance at a little bit of history. Should they be able to claim the Stanley Cup, they will make Pittsburgh one of four cities/markets to claim two championships in the supposed four "major" sports leagues within the same calendar year at least twice. (If you can follow that) Right now, Pittsburgh is one of six cities to have pulled off at least once:
|Year||City/Market||First Team||Second Team|
|1956||New York||Yankees||Giants (NFL)|
|1938||New York||Yankees||Giants (NFL)|
|1933||New York||Rangers||Giants (MLB)|
|1927||New York||Yankees||Giants (NFL)|
**-We know any self-respecting Devils fan would puke at the idea of being lumped in with New York teams, but if the Giants and Jets can play their "home" games in New Jersey, the Devils can be considered a New York team.
*-Ditto with the Los Angeles/Anaheim and San Francisco/Oakland dynamics.
