-Sidney Crosby (above) got two days with the Stanley Cup because he's Sidney Crosby.
-Happah 48th birthdah to formah Penguins forward and Bruins color commentah Andy Brickley. Go have some chawdah.
-Happy 47th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Jim Johnson (right). Johnson was part of a pretty underrated trade during the 1990-91 Stanley Cup winning season that netted defensemen Larry Murphy and Peter Taglianetti from the North Stars. Before the trade, Johnson had appeared in 390 games with the Penguins, the seventh best total in franchise history among defensemen.
-Who didn't see something like this happening? The NHL has outlined a process for bickering Lightning owners Len Barrie and Oren Koules to buy each other out.
-They even make fun of Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa in his native Slovakia. To his face.
-We know this might be shocking but please bear with us. The reason former Flames forward Theo Fleury - an individual who has made a few questionable life choices (to be kind) - is considering an NHL comeback... could be... might be... based on the fact he needs money.
-The NHL wants a U.S. bankrupcy court to throw out Jim Balsillie's bid to buy the Coyotes simply because they don't like him. The league claims "he doesn't have the good character and integrity required of a new owner." Keep in mind, this is the same league which has had the likes of William "Boots" Del Biaggio, Bruce McNall, John Rigas, and Henry Samueli - all men who have done time in jail or currently face jail time - own various franchises.
