Curry demoted to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton - 9-27-09

The Penguins demoted goaltender John Curry to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.

Curry was 33-15-1 last season with the AHL Penguins with a 2.38 goals against average and .916 save percentage. He appeared in three NHL games last season and went 2-1-0 with a 2.40 goals against average and .914 save percentage.

EN Says: This isn't a surprise. The team brought in Brent Johnson to be the back up to Marc-Andre Fleury. Curry has progressed steadily in the Penguins' organization and should get a shot to be Fleury's back up one day. Just not yet.

And given that Johnson and even Fleury have each shown a history of injuries, don't be shocked to see Curry up with the NHL Penguins this upcoming season.
