Church attendance

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

In Vivian Nereim's article "More Churches Reach Out With Contemporary Services" (Dec. 20), she overlooked one fact: Church attendance in America is declining. Every survey taken about church attendance agrees that the adult population who attends regularly is less than 50 percent.

As a church dropout, I think the service must be "worthwhile" to attend. If any church in southwestern Pennsylvania would provide decent-paying jobs with health care, that congregation will, within five years, outdraw the Steelers. I am willing to go to any church, anywhere, any time, that will do that.

Whether the chief musical instrument is an organ or a guitar is not relevant in that matter.
