Indignity of neglect
In response to the letter " 'Choice' Rhetoric" (Dec. 24), I am interested in knowing whether the writer is opposed to all medical procedures that might be construed as "horribly nauseating" to the layperson. Many medical acts are gruesome and unpleasant, but that does not mean we automatically reject them.
Regarding the issue of human dignity: Is it dignified to force a woman to have a child? Is it in the best interests of human dignity to oblige children to be born to parents who do not want them? This would be the true injustice, to force children to be born to parents who may resent their existence and not properly care for them.
