Obama, review the tape to see what will work

Dear Mr. President, nice State of the Union speech! Now what you need to do is watch the tape. Watch the tape of your speech, if you can stomach Vice President Joe Biden's nodding at every one of your sentences, and the perpetual, silly grin and hopping up and down of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. You will see that there were more than a few times that the entire body rose to applaud your ideas. Here is a novel approach: Act on every idea that had the entire body standing!

Do what you said you were going to do and reach across the aisle and work on problems and solutions that everyone agrees are most important. I was appalled to hear in a recent interview of John McCain that you have not once called him in the past year. Shame on you! You have proved to be as partisan as George W. Bush. I thought you were different. So far, you have failed everyone on that account.

You have a chance to be a great president. So far, you are blowing it. Do what you said you were going to do and start building consensus. Look at the tape.
