Paltry contribution
Regarding Frank Lazzaro's Feb. 15 letter ("A Wintry Exhibit of Why Merging Would be Bad") shows a true lack of knowledge when it comes to city revenues, city services and mergers. He thinks the paltry $52 per worker (which includes city residents) is enough to justify his criticism and mocking of the mayor and city employees.
The $52 generates about $12.5 million for the city. This snowstorm alone will cost a reported $1 million. And let's remember, his measly $52 has plenty of other services to cover. When he needs to be rescued by a firefighter or saved by a police officer, will his cheap $52 be enough?
Tell you what, let's take roughly 40 percent of the land in Richland off the tax rolls and then see how he pays to have his community streets cleaned of snow.
The mayor has enough to do without listening to the monotonous drone of the Frank Lazzaros of this region. Why not just toughen up and pay your fair share?
