Shameful PR

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

I have read many of the recent letters about Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's inadequate response to the recent snowstorms and lack of leadership, and I have something to add. After the storm, following an onslaught of criticism, the mayor decided to take to the streets in an effort to regain some public support.

In the course of this almost laughable display, during which Mayor Ravenstahl did little more than ride in a Humvee, he showed up at the home of a hospice patient who could not get her medications because her street went unplowed for days. This video sickened me. Shame on you, Mr. Ravenstahl!

As a nurse, I am appalled that the mayor found it appropriate to use this ailing woman's terrible situation (for which he is at least partly to blame) as a photo-op to generate some positive PR. Show some consideration and respect for your sick constituents, Mr. Ravenstahl! You certainly could have had her street plowed, and even stopped in to meet her, without the cameras. You should be ashamed of yourself, as should any news station that played into your shameless ploy for self-promotion.
