Proud of our peaceful process

As the inauguration has come and gone, there is one thing that still stands out to me and makes me proud to be an American (something that is increasingly more popular to say now that we have a new president).

We live in one of the only countries on the face of the Earth whose transitions of power from party to party or person to person are not marked by dogged violence or oppression.

No matter what snide things are said in the press or behind closed doors, our transfer of power takes place with dignity and peace, and that is something of which I am exceedingly proud.
