What will be next?

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

Recently, the Pittsburgh school district approved a new policy regarding sex education programs in the schools ("City Schools Replace Abstinence-Only Sex Ed," Feb. 25). Under this policy, students will be taught that abstinence is the sure way to avoid pregnancy and disease and they'll also learn about contraception, dating and alternative lifestyles.

What's next? Are there going to be sex demonstrations in the classrooms? What was wrong with the old teaching methods that simply taught about reproduction and leaving the sexual discussions up to the parents?

Isn't it bad enough that we have children wondering who their daddy is and their mothers wondering the same thing?

Teachers are breaching our children's innocence. In my day, young men and women were proud that they were entering marriage in a state of virginity. What is wrong with that?
