An exciting trend has developed in Pittsburgh. Students of the Pittsburgh Public Schools have learned that it is their right to testify in front of the school board.
Recently, we've had students testify about the future of their schools and others asking for adoption of the comprehensive sexuality education program. This week we heard from students speaking out in support of Clayton Academy and others concerned with the negative health effects of diesel emission from school buses.
Our students have been impressive and inspirational. My thanks to their families and our staff for enabling them to grow into mature and responsible citizens who are learning to stand up for something they care about. And most of all, I applaud our students who are learning to "be the change." You're all wonderful!
