Overseas sacrifice
After watching the news and talking about the officers who were killed April 4, I got to thinking. I am a veteran of the military and have served in Afghanistan. I was there with soldiers from the local area who were killed in action and have never seen the American flag at half staff for them for doing their jobs, let alone barely getting a mention on the news. And set up a memorial! Only if their immediate family and friends were setting it up on the front lawn.
To me, this just shows how we react to things that happen at home and forget what is happening overseas on a daily basis. Those soldiers fighting for our country deserve just as much respect as those officers who died while doing their jobs.
