Wrong about Ron

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

It was irresponsible of the PG to publish John Machado's letter ("Irresponsible Ron," April 21) without checking on the supposed facts stated therein. Mr. Machado's assertion that President Reagan's budgets were passed by a blindly supportive GOP majority in both houses of Congress is factually inaccurate.

While the Republicans did enjoy a six-year majority in the Senate during the Reagan administration, the House of Representatives was controlled by the Democrats during the entirety of Reagan's two terms. The simple fact is that for Reagan's budgets to pass, Democrats voted for them.

Unfortunately for Mr. Machado, he has fallen into his own trap of twisting facts and figures to suit a specific and personal agenda.
