Lock-step GOP

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

Regarding "The GOP Tent," a May 11 letter by John Bloom, and the right-wing people who let Rush Limbaugh do their thinking for them: Sen. Arlen Specter did not leave the Republican Party; the GOP left Sen. Specter because he voted for what he thought was best for the country, not for the GOP.

The GOP does not want anyone in the party who does his or her own thinking. Those in the GOP must think and vote exactly like ol' Rush and the other party bosses tell them to or they are considered outcasts.

Mr. Bloom listed party leaders such as Michael Steele and Rick Santorum. He forgot to mention the real leader: Rush "do as I say or else" Limbaugh. You know, the same person who was lecturing dope addicts and saying they should be in jail, but at the same time was a pill-popping junkie. Yes, that leader, Mr. Bloom.

Mr. Bloom called Mr. Specter some very nasty names: rubbish, Frankenstein monster -- the same kind of names his leader, ol' Rush, would use. Way to go, Mr. Bloom, he taught you well.

Mr. Bloom is cheering for Pat Toomey to run against the Democratic nominee, whoever he may be. Just what the GOP needs: another yes man to vote lock-step with Rush Limbaugh, the oil companies, the prescription companies and all the other far-right agendas that benefit the rich and richer.

I am a Democrat and I am proud of it, but I don't know who I am going to vote for yet. You see, I think for myself, even though our leaders are backing Sen. Specter.
