Missing moderates

Kudos to Frank Woolf! His letter was right on, and I don't mean far right on ("Where's the GOP That I Knew and Liked?" June 2). I too miss my Republican Party.

Gone is the time when you could have honest disagreements on issues without the meanness that is now the prevailing attitude.

I often think how sad John Heinz would be to see how the extreme wing of our party excludes rather than includes anyone with differing views.

While Mr. Woolf mentioned our past presidents, I thought about Pennsylvania's great leaders such as Sen. Heinz, Dick Thornburgh, Bill Scranton and Tom Ridge.
They would have a hard time fitting into our party as it is today.
