Adds to the woe
I am completely opposed to raising the state income tax, especially during a recession. Once again, many of our elected leaders, including Gov. Ed Rendell, would rather threaten to cut off essential services to the poor and disadvantaged than make the necessary tough choices, starting with reducing their own salaries and expense accounts, and especially cutting the size of our bloated Legislature. (Incidentally, I wonder how much the extra time they are spending in Harrisburg to hash out a budget is going to cost us?)
Increasing our regressive income tax would disproportionately hurt low-income wage earners, supposedly the very people they want to help with the extra revenue that would be generated.
Enough already! Harrisburg, are you listening?
