Both-ways Murphy

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

Recently, U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy sent a letter to the editor ("We Must Stop the Nonsense and Focus on the Real Issues," Aug. 9) in which he firmly states that he believes that President Barack Obama is a citizen of the United States. However, when I wrote to Mr. Murphy recently regarding his being identified as one of the 11 Republican Congress members supporting the "birthers" madness and running from reporters, I received a long, rambling, inane reply that to me ultimately implied that through some chain of events the president was a citizen of the United Kingdom because his pregnant mother couldn't leave Kenya in time to get to Hawaii for his birth.

This was certainly lending support to the birther cause.

What is apparent is that his letter to the PG was disingenuous and that he wants to have it both ways -- which certainly has been his modus operandi since first being elected. The real question is when will the people of the 18th District tire of his duplicity and call him to account for his 100 percent support of the disastrous policies of the past eight years?
