Merciful action

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

Regarding the release of the murderer of those on the plane that came down in Lockerbie, Scotland, why are people so angry that a man dying of cancer should be allowed to die at home with his family?

Justice tempered with mercy is only human. The man was treated justly when imprisoned for the murders. Now, the Scottish authorities are tempering that justice with mercy by allowing him to die at home.

Justice without mercy is harsh. Mercy without justice can be pusillanimous.

I am proud of my country, Scotland, for exercising compassion in this matter.
