Dangerous 'brats'

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

It's a common childhood experience for a sibling to slide close to you in the back seat, just to be annoying. Or for a friend to put his finger within millimeters of your nose. Over your protests, the denials of wrongdoing would be "I'm not touching you" or "It's a free country."

Those brats are grown up now. Their new game is to follow the president around with assault weapons slung over their shoulders.

These same folks chastised the administration when Air Force One and a military escort flew by New York for a photo-op. Parading (or flying) around bearing guns just for show was perfectly legal but unacceptably stupid. Sound familiar?

Where will gun-toters assert their rights next? Exercise class? Your kid's school? Church? Tailgating with a few beers?

This practice distracts law enforcement and makes their job tougher. Eventually, a gun-toter will push too far and get himself shot. And some good cop will probably lose his job in the process.

The right to bear arms was added to the Constitution so noble men could defend themselves against tyranny, not so fools could play childish and dangerous games while taunting, "It's a free country."
