System subversion
I think all would agree that taking money from your employer's till and putting it in your pocket would be defined as stealing. But the May 23 Forum article ("The Robin Hoods Among Us") indicates that stealing the same amount from the same source and giving it to a third party is an act of nobility.
Do we as Americans really want to live in a society where everyone is free to substitute his or her judgment in place of the law or custom?
Nobility to me is reaching into your own pocket to help the truly needy and working to improve the lot of all rather than further subverting an already imperfect system.
