Champions rights

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

This letter is in response to Joseph Niespodzianski's comments in your paper ("Prove Value, NRA," April 18 letters). I have been a National Rifle Association member and was an NRA-certified law enforcement firearms instructor for many years.

Mr. Niespodzianski, equating the National Rifle Association and its members with some sort of lunatic fringe element is absolutely wrong and highly insulting. The NRA is a champion of Second Amendment rights in our country and is extremely active in responsible firearms training and gun safety programs as well as efforts to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals and mentally unstable individuals, without penalizing or infringing upon the rights of law-abiding citizens who own firearms for the purposes of shooting sports, hunting and personal protection. Many police officers belong to the NRA.

Mr. Niespodzianski should do his research and get his facts straight before commenting as he did.
