Obama disappoints

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

Unlike Eric Riesen ("Mr. President, You Must Explain Your Wars," Aug. 9 Forum), I was a supporter of Barack Obama as a candidate mainly because of his opposition to the war in Iraq, and now I am disappointed.

Instead of bringing the troops home from Iraq quickly he is expanding the war in Afghanistan, which, as the pastor writes, most people think is unwinnable. I thought President Obama was too intelligent for this, but now I wonder if he is too puffed up with the idea of being the commander in chief. Has he ceded his reason to the militarists?

I stand with the pastor in requesting from the president a "full-court press" explanation of why he is sending our young women and men into harm's way when he has not experienced any military service of his own.
