The police are there to protect everyone

I read the letters from protesters Thursday. I agree that they do have the right to voice their opinion; it is that right that our country was built on. I just hope that they protest peacefully and respectfully.

The law enforcement officers who are out there deserve our respect and the respect of the protesters. They are there not only to protect the world leaders who are in attendance at the G-20 summit, but also to protect our neighborhoods and families.

We need to keep in mind that they are heroes who put others before themselves and they need to be treated with respect.

The law enforcement officers are people, too, so let's treat them like it. I ask the protesters and all citizens to treat them with the respect and appreciation they deserve.
