Removal of mailboxes will present a hardship

I have been notified by some of my neighbors that signs are appearing on numerous corner mailboxes that they are being removed in the future.

I also received information that when the post office was called about this problem, the caller was told that the box at 4701 Butler might be the one closest to my street in the Stanton Avenue area -- a distance of more than a mile and a half!

What are our elder citizens who depend on the corner mailboxes to do? Are they expected to drive or take a bus to mail their letters?

Please look into this major problem in our community!
