Look to legal billings
Given the city's very poor financial health, it is not surprising the mayor and others are looking for additional revenues, but students working their way through school or the sick paying astronomical hospital bills should not be our solution.
Why not have a gross receipt levy on the billings of legal firms? I would suggest a 2.5 percent rate. If the home rule charter does not allow such a tax, we should ask our state representatives to immediately submit legislation to allow for such a tax.
