He's no lackey

I am surprised by the negative comments directed to Rep. Jason Altmire by some of his constituents concerning his recent "no" vote on health-care reform. Residents of the 4th Congressional District should be proud that they have a representative who is concerned about the extremely high cost of this proposed bill.

The Congressional Budget Office and other nonpartisan organizations have stated that the cost of this bill will lead to an increase in overall health-care expenditures. A massive tax increase will be the result since this is the only way to pay for this proposed system.

As a resident of the 14th Congressional District, I am envious that the 4th District has a representative who truly votes for what he believes is correct rather than someone who is simply a lackey for the Democratic leadership in the House.
