Not buying it, PennDOT
I'd like to comment on the weather on Sunday, Dec. 13 ("A Deadly Chaos on the Roads: Treacherous Ice Hit in an Instant," Dec. 14). Regardless of the circumstances the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation should have pretreated surfaces/roadways before the rain had fallen. I don't believe its argument that any pretreatment of surfaces would have just washed away with the rain. The precipitation fell straight down, and it wasn't all that hard. Sorry to say, but PennDOT dropped the ball, and a lot of heartache was the consequence.
