Men, work to stop sexual violence
I don't like having to remind myself and others that most men treat women with dignity and respect. Most men don't believe intoxication is consent for sexual activity. Most men would intervene and stop a potentially dangerous situation.
Although Ben Roethlisberger was not charged with any crime, recent events involving him have once again forced me to address these issues to myself, my family and my friends.
I am angry that women, children and men continue to be sexually assaulted. I want men to work to prevent and stop sexual violence.
I am angry about behaviors I do not support or endorse. I would hate to think my son, brother, friend or co-worker would think it's OK to do those things.
If you are angry, please think about joining us as a member of Project STRIVE - men advocating responsibility and consent. View our website at www.joinprojectstrive.org or come to our next meeting Monday, May 3, at 6 p.m. at Pittsburgh Action Against Rape. Call 412-431-5665 and ask for David Perini for more information.
