What Jesus wouldn’t do

Written by Rosa Colucci on .

Regarding Ben Roethlisberger: I have heard repeatedly through the years that Ben is a "pig" in Pittsburgh bars - refusing to pay cover charges, being rude to wait staff, not paying bills. Being past my bar-going years, I have dismissed these reports from co-workers and friends.

But the Steelers should not. These are not "he said-she said" situations, and can readily be documented if the Steelers choose to. Is Ben a man of character, a victim - railroaded by the media? Or, an uncaring and dangerous misogynist?

It isn't my place to be the judge. I just have two other thoughts: I remember fondly now the days when Ben's problems with the NFL - front-page news back then - were over writing Pat Tillman's number and "WWJD" on his shoes. And, Sophocles said, "Money is the worst currency that ever grew among mankind. This ... teaches and corrupts the worthiest minds to turn base deeds."

I don't know what Jesus would do, but I am pretty sure what he would not do, and Ben's recent behavior is exactly that.
