Sestak is the real Democrat in the race
Sen. Arlen Specter has come out swinging against Rep. Joe Sestak in their battle for the Democratic nomination for senator. Many of us remember Mr. Specter's swinging at Anita Hill, when he was the attack dog of the Republicans against her, because of her testimony about Clarence Thomas when he was nominated for the U.S. Supreme Court. He took advantage of every opportunity to berate her for trying to describe Mr. Thomas' behavior; Mr. Specter's behavior was that of a bully. He had the power of the Senate behind him and an acid tongue to belittle her. It was a classic example of a bully at work.
Given his switch of parties recently, I am reminded of the response of a tour guide in Ireland, when my wife and I were on a visit there. A tourist asked our guide, how a particular family was able to maintain control of its estates for more than a century during the many wars. He answered: "Sometimes they ran with the hounds and sometimes they ran with the fox." That is the way of Arlen Specter as a person and senator: what is best for him.
I will be voting without hesitation for Joe Sestak to be the Democratic nominee to the U.S. Senate, and I urge all real Democrats to do the same.
