A Classic send-off

Ross Brightwell of Maple Glen, Pa., had a good idea: Open the roof of the Civic Arena (it will always be the "Civic Arena" in my heart) one last time and hold a concert of local bands there ("A Final Opening?" April 20 letters).

I say let's go further than that; let's open the roof (or tear it off, whatever's easier) and next Jan. 1 hold the NHL's "Winter Classic" there. The following day they can blow the place up or do whatever they want with it. An "outdoor" hockey game -- what a great way to close the place.
