Move on to mercy

Enough already! It's time for a moratorium on editorials, op-eds, letters to the editor and all other public comments in response to Ben Roethlisberger's irresponsible and unfortunate behavior.

If what he must be enduring from the media and across the general public hasn't revealed the moral pit into which he has fallen and the contempt in which he is now widely held, nothing will. Everything that needs to be said has been.

It's time now to hope for his awakening with the help of those conducting Ben's comprehensive examination and counseling. It's time for prayers for Ben's redemption so that he gets his life back on track. Everyone needs love, especially those who don't deserve it.

Perhaps we need to remind ourselves that it is still true: Those who extend mercy will themselves receive mercy.
