"True Blood" and "Gone Girl" EW covers: been there, done that

Back in January, Entertainment Weekly magazine did a creepy but credible homage to Annie Leibovitz and her John Lennon/Yoko Ono Rolling Stone cover. In anticipation of the upcoming "Gone Girl," stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike were carefully arranged in a cuddle.

trueblood2Not in bed, of course, but the morgue. Director David Fincher took the shot, toe tag and all. It was, all in all, nicely done.

Now EW presents a different set of dead/not dead lovers: real-life husband and wife Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin. The final season of HBO's "True Blood" premieres Sunday and even though Sookie and Vampire Bill are no longer an item, here's another take on finding love in all the wrong places.

The composition is similar but what's disturbing is not that they're cozying in a coffin, it's the fact that Paquin is naked. Moyer is fully clothed. Gratuitous, much?

A press release for this week's issue includes snippets from their interview. In the season-opener, Paquin is getting it on with Mt. Lebanon native Joe Manganiello, who plays werewolf Alcide. Moyer directed the episode.

"It's not as awkward as you would think," he said, adding in enough details to register on the TMI meter.

His wife said she didn't mind: "We set the bar very high for 'weird' early on."
